维珍澳大利亚航空宣布来往墨尔本及香港的直航服务正式启航，并首次把国际航班版图扩展至大中华区。
由2017年7月5日起，维珍澳大利亚航空每周将有5班航班来往两地，以双走廊式空中巴士A330-200客机营运。维珍澳大利亚航空与海航航空和香港航空的结盟，让客户透过香港直达中国内地13个目的地；亦让海南航空、香港航空、首都航空及天津航空的客户连接至维珍澳大利亚航空庞大的内陆及横跨塔斯曼网络。
