继格林豪泰上市后，外资经济型酒店品牌的表现再次受到关注。近日有传言称速8酒店曾以1.2亿美元出售，但“卖身未果”。在格林豪泰赴美IPO之后，首日股价便缩水，也让人开始对外资经济型酒店品牌表示担忧。作为最早一批进入中国市场的外资经济型酒店品牌，速8发展并不如本土经济型酒店品牌，当前经济型酒店市场低靡，华住、铂涛、如家也早已经开始布局中端酒店市场。如今外资经济型酒店品牌酒店数量上均不如本土酒店品牌，显然经济型酒店已经步入分水岭。
